Prince Albert nursing home lifts visitor restriction in one unit

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Visitor restrictions have been lifted for one unit at the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert, Sask. following a respiratory outbreak earlier this month.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region (PAPHR) says seven residents and one staff member were sick at the Golden Hill unit but this outbreak is considered over.

Entero-Rhinovirus was confirmed as the cause of the outbreak.

Visitor restrictions remain in place for the Lakeland Trail unit as individuals are still showing symptoms. The outbreak was declared on Oct. 6.

If family members need to arrange a visit, they can call 306-765-6189 in advance for further instructions.

The third unit at Herb Basset Home, Paradise Path, is not currently affected by the outbreak. Staff are restricting movement at the facility and taking precautions.

Outbreak at Family Treatment Centre

The outbreak at the city’s Family Treatment Centre is also over. PAPHR says visitor restrictions have been lifted and it is once again admitting clients.

An enteric gastrointestinal infectious illness was identified as the cause after the outbreak was declared on Oct. 8.
