TORONTO — The 100th episode of Hawaii Five-O will feature a brand new song from Five for Fighting.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s executive producer Peter Lenkov asked singer John Ondrasik for a previously unreleased song to use in the special Nov. 7 episode. Instead, Ondrasik wrote a song specifically for — and inspired by — the show.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The result is a song entitled “All For One,” which Lenkov told THR “really highlights themes of the show … and the bonds of friendship.”

Ondrasik, who recorded hits like “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” as Five for Fighting, has had his music used in shows like Criminal Minds, Smallville and Ghost Whisperer but this is the first time he’s written a song specifically for a show.

“The challenge was to create a piece of music that could sustain an emotional experience for three minutes,” he told THR. “To do that, you need clarity in the lyrics and a production that continues to build and pull people in.”

Almost the entire song will be featured in a montage at the end of the 100th episode of Hawaii Five-O, which airs Friday nights on Global. It will then be available for download on iTunes.
