TORONTO – Police have charged a 70-year-old man with the murder of a woman whose body was found near a Toronto community centre Wednesday.
Shou Quan Chen, 70, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder.
Police allege he approached the victim, 65-year-old Xian Xu Liu, on Wednesday outside the Wallace Emerson Community Centre near Dupont Street and Dufferin Street and began talking to her.
Police allege he then assaulted her, which was when she collapsed and fell to the ground.
She was later pronounced dead by paramedics. Police have not released a cause of death but said Wednesday she suffered from obvious facial trauma.
He’s scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.
