Busy as bees at John Rennie High School

Watch: Busy as bees at John Rennie High School

MONTREAL — A group of students John Rennie High School in Pointe-Claire were as busy as bees Monday.

The students had a chance to extract the honey from the school’s very own bee hives.

The hives are part of the Haden Garden, a little green sanctuary on the school’s campus.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“We want to have the experience to work with bees and share awareness that bees aren’t as dangerous as you think they are,” said Brian Nugent, a Grade 8 John Rennie student.

“You can go in and work with them and you don’t need a lot of equipment to do it.”

This summer, an urban beekeeping non-profit organization called Miel Montreal delivered the two hives to the school.
