CALGARY – One person was killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a car on Monday.

Emergency crews were called to the 4200 block of 4th Street N.W. around 11 a.m.

The driver of the motorcycle, a man in his 50’s, was declared dead at the scene.

Staff Sergeant Paul Stacey says a female driver of a Honda Civic made a left turn across the motorcyclist’s path and it’s possible the driver didn’t see the bike over a small hill.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“The point of perception for the diver and the possible point of perception are all things we look at when we reconstruct the collision, “he explains. “We will be checking out exactly when she first might have been able to see the bike”.

The female driver of the second vehicle was uninjured.

Monday’s fatal collision is the second in as many days that involves motorcycles.

A 39-year-old woman was killed when the 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle she was driving left the road and hit a light standard Sunday evening.

Stacey says that Sunday’s collision is a completely different set of circumstances than Monday’s.

“In that crash we’re dealing with possible inexperience and maybe even weather related issues.”

The Calgary Police Service’s traffic section continued to investigate Monday’s collision.

So far no information on whether charges will be laid.
