MONTREAL – The Quebec Order of Dentists (ODQ) has signed an agreement with three community groups to offer free dental care to the underprivileged.
About 200 dentists across the province have volunteered to work on a pro bono basis as part of the Bouche B project.
The Association des centres jeunesse du Québec, the Fondation du Dr Julien and P.A.S de la rue will work with the ODQ to pair dentists with patients that need dental services.
The foundation’s president, Pierre Tessier, says the initiative is part of the ODQ’s overall mission, which includes giving dental care access to the city’s most vulnerable communities.
The province-wide project is modeled on a similar program that is already up and running the the Mauricie region.
