TORONTO – A man wanted on a Canada wide warrant for the murder of an Ontario businessman has been arrested, according to provincial police.

Ontario Provincial Police say 70-year-old Boris Panovski was apprehended without incident on Sept. 21 while he re-entered Canada at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

According to a dog breeder who knew both the suspect and the victim, Panovski bred dogs for Donato Frigo.

“I’m shocked,” said Tim Tufts, who also trains English Setters in Orono, Ont told The Canadian Press.

Panovski has been charged with first degree murder and attempted murder in the shooting death of 70-year-old Frigo.

Frigo was fatally shot near a wildlife conservation area around 5 p.m. Sept. 13 on the outskirts of Clinton in southwestern Ontario.

Police said the 70-year-old business executive at Hady Construction Group was killed while riding a horse with his wife.

The suspect then fled the scene and a large-scale manhunt followed with a tactical team sweeping the area Saturday evening.

Investigators say tips from witnesses led them to a home in Scarborough where a search warrant was conducted on Sept. 17.

Investigators on Friday said Frigo and Panovski knew each other and that there was an altercation prior to the incident.

They refused to say however exactly how the two men knew each other.

But Tufts said the two men had known each other for nearly 20 years and Panovski was “quite an accomplished trainer.”

However Panovski had a temper that led to trouble with customers in the United States and he stopped breeding dogs five years ago, Tufts said.
