EDMONTON – The Edmonton Transit Service is running more tests this weekend on the north section of the Metro line LRT track and it could interrupt traffic in the area.

While this isn’t the first time tests have been run on the new Metro line extension, it’s not common for it to be done inside regular service hours.

Testing is for the new signalling system and will happen between the new MacEwan and NAIT stations between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. and midnight on Sunday.

Intersections could be closed for minutes at a time. Intersections affected are 105 Street and 105 Avenue, 105 Street and 106 Avenue, 105 Street and 107 Avenue, Kingsway Avenue and 104 Street, 111 Avenue and 106 Street, and Princess Elizabeth Avenue and 106 Street.

LRT service on the track south of the new MacEwan station will run as normal.
