CALGARY – The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is hosting a public presentation on Wednesday to discuss six new schools they plan to build.
One of the schools which board members will speak about is the replacement facility for Christine Meikle.
The special needs school, located in the community of Bridgeland, is more than fifty years old and wasn’t designed to serve students with complex special education needs.
However, the board’s decision to construct a replacement school on CBE-owned land in the community of Varsity has sparked a lawsuit from nearby residents.
Other schools set to be discussed in the meeting include:
- Aboriginal learning centre (former Harold W. Riley school)
- Bowness High School modernizations
- Evergreen middle school
- Jack James High School modernization
- Northeast high school
The presentations will be held the Education Centre at 1221 – 8 St. S.W. from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Free underground parking is available off 12 Avenue S.W.
