HALIFAX, NS —

Barrington and Yarmouth Ground Search and Rescue are actively searching for a Nova Scotia man who went missing on September 9th.

On Saturday, Shelburne County RCMP located a red 4-door 2010 Hyundai Elantra belonging to Charles Cecil Slate.

The vehicle was located near the Lake John Road, approximately 3 km from Highway 103 at the Lockeport exit.

Slate was last seen on September 9th at approximately 5:25 p.m. Police say his family is very concerned about his current state of mind.

The 44-year-old was arrested on the morning of September 9th, and charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography, Making Available Child Pornography and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm.

It’s alleged he was using unsecured WiFi networks in the Shelburne area to obtain child pornography via file sharing networks.

Police say Slate does not have a prior criminal history, and the concern is for his own safety, not that of the public.

Slate is described as 5’5″ and 134 lbs, has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing camouflage pants, a plaid zip-up jacket and rubber boots.

Anyone with information regarding Charles Slate is asked to call the Shelburne RCMP at (902) 875-2490, or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
