Others in the area reported a slight drop in water pressure and discoloured water in some homes.

The city says they’re not sure how the break happened but hope to have service restored within 24 hours.

The break affected Main Street traffic between Chief Peguis Trail and the Perimeter late in the morning rush hour.

The city said anyone with discoloured water should run cold water for a few minutes, preferably in the bathtub, then catch some water in a light-coloured cup to see whether it’s clear.

If the water still isn’t clear, wait half an hour and try again.

If the water still isn’t clear after two or three hours, call 311 or email 311@winnipeg.ca, the city said.
