Warman, Sask. teen sentenced for 2013 stabbing of girl

SASKATOON – A Warman, Sask. teen has been handed a two-year sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated assault.

The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was originally charged with attempted murder after a then 13-year-old girl was stabbed on Sept. 13, 2013.

Police found the girl suffering from multiple stab wounds. The pair were know to each other.

Court heard she had been stabbed twice in the neck, had her pinkie severed, and was cut under the chin and on the back of her thigh.

She still suffers from the lingering effects of her injuries along with emotional trauma including depression.

The boy was sentenced to eight months secured custody at a youth facility, eight months open custody and eight months of community supervision.
