EDMONTON — Alberta Liberal leader Raj Sherman says he is being questioned by the Calgary Police Service in an impersonation investigation involving a leaked phone bill.
At the end of August, a $20,000 phone bill for PC leadership candidate Thomas Lukaszuk was sent via courier to the Edmonton Sun. Police said a Calgary resident’s name was fraudulently used on the package.
The two-year-old bill was for roaming charges Lukaszuk racked up while on a personal trip overseas.

On Saturday, Sherman released the following statement regarding the investigation.
“I look forward to fully and honestly answering any and all questions Calgary Police Services may ask in order to bring their investigation to a successful close.
“Out of respect for Calgary Police Services, and to safeguard the integrity of their ongoing investigation, I will make no further public comment on this matter at this time.”
Lukaszuk didn’t accuse anyone specific of leaking the bill, but said he believes it was connected to the leadership race.
Fellow candidate Jim Prentice, who won the leadership Saturday, has denied having any involvement in the leak.
