DELHI, Ont. – A 56-year-old man is dead following an accident Monday evening at a tobacco farm south of Delhi in southwestern Ontario.
Norfolk County OPP say at about 7 p.m., the man was operating a three-wheeled fertilizer spreader and had a seasonal worker on board as a passenger.
They exited the field, but for reasons unknown, the machine continued down an embankment for about 23 metres before flipping over in a large pond.
Police say the seasonal worker was able to jump off the equipment and run to a nearby farm to call for help.
The unidentified man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police and officials from the Labour Ministry and the Environment Ministry are investigating the accident on Norfolk County Road 45.
