Police name Sheet Harbour fisherman who died after falling off bridge

SHEET HARBOUR, N.S. – Police have released the name of a 76-year-old fisherman who died after falling off a bridge east of Halifax.

They say Carl Harnish of Sheet Harbour was fishing on Sober Island Bridge on Wednesday when he tried to free his line from the bottom and slipped into the water.

His body was found at about 6 p.m.

Emergency Health Services provided medical assistance at the scene in Sheet Harbour, but he succumbed to his injuries.
