TORONTO – Rob Ford says he’s still allowed into the United States despite a short trip to Chicago in May where he withdrew his application to enter the country.
Ford returned to city hall last week after a two-month stay in rehab and has since ignored repeated questions from reporters at city hall about details surrounding his leave of absence.
The mayor simply replied “yes I can” when asked by a reporter Monday whether he could still fly south.
But his last trip was cut short. He flew south from Buttonville airport on May 1 after announcing his leave of absence but voluntarily withdrew his application after a brief discussion with border guards.
The mayor ignored questions about what happened during that trip to Chicago.
His brother, councillor Doug Ford, didn’t divulge many details, saying the mayor chose to leave Chicago.
“I guess he likes to see Chicago. We have a house there, we have a business there,” Councillor Ford said when asked why the mayor went to the city at all.
