EDMONTON – A 68-year-old man whose vehicle went over an embankment in west Edmonton on Sunday has succumbed to his injuries.
The man was travelling north on Anthony Henday Drive and had just exited onto the Yellowhead Trail west off-ramp, when his SUV struck the guard rail and went off the road around 3:15 p.m. The vehicle then ended up rolling down an embankment onto the eastbound lanes of Yellowhead Trail.
The driver, and lone occupant of the SUV, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The area was shut down to traffic, as investigators tried to piece together what happened.
