Ari Voukydis’ Final Jeopardy answer didn’t help him win on Thursday night’s episode of “Jeopardy!”, but it’s helping him win the internet on Friday.
Voukydis and the other two contestants were presented with the clue below in Final Jeopardy.
Voukydis, a comedy writer from Los Angeles, had no chance of catching the defending champion entering Final Jeopardy so his focus shifted from winning to another goal.
“When I realized that I didn’t have an opportunity to win after Final Jeopardy, then I went after sort of a secondary target, which was to come up with a good Final Jeopardy answer so I could kind of lose on my own terms,” he told Today.
Voukydis doesn’t disappoint as he drops the greatest answer in Final Jeopardy history.
Even Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek gives Voukydis props for the creative answer.
“Good for you, Ari!” Trebek exclaims as the studio audience laughs.
For the record, the correct answer to the clue is Alfred Nobel.
