KELOWNA– It’s official, Alberta based Westcorp Developments will build a 65 million dollar hotel and conference centre on the downtown Kelowna waterfront.
Kelowna City Council gave unanimous support to the project during final reading Tuesday night.
The 24 storey structure will be built at the foot of Queensway Avenue on the old Willow Inn site.
Westcorp also purchased Mill Street from the city allowing the hotel’s green space to flow right into Kerry Park.
With it’s huge conference facilities, the hotel is expected to attract more business to downtown restaurants and stores.
The project has been in the works for years with Westcorp making changes and improvements along the way.
Now that it’s received the green light, Westcorp expects to break ground by the middle of next year with project completion planned for 2017.
