Elderly woman dies following collision near Vegreville

EDMONTON – A 78-year-old Alberta woman has died following a collision near Vegreville last week.

RCMP were called to a collision on Highway 631, north of Vegreville, around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 11.

Officers say a Chevrolet Malibu was heading east on the highway when it struck the back end of a farm tractor, which was hauling a sprayer at the time. RCMP say the tractor was also heading east on the highway.

The 75-year-old woman driving the car was taken to hospital in Vegreville and released.

The 78-year-old passenger was taken to hospital in Vegreville and later transported by STARS Air Ambulance to an Edmonton hospital where she died of her injuries.

Police say both women were from the Two Hills area.

The victim’s name has not been released.
