A body was found after several hours of searching, but there was no immediate information on the victim’s age or gender.

Police are investigating the cause of the blaze, which they earlier said might have been caused by some sort of explosion.

The fire in the city’s Villeray district sent up a cloud of smoke that was visible several kilometres away.
