SASKATOON – Many people around the province and across the country “Bleed Green” for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Riders now want their fans to show their Rider pride and “Bleed Green” for the Canadian Blood Services.

“We have the best football fans in the country – always there to cheer us on,” said Jim Hopson, president and CEO of the Roughriders.

“Bleed Green is our opportunity to root for you. For local patients, for loved ones who may need blood in future and for the community we are proud to be part of.”

Canadian Blood Services needs to collect more than 4,000 blood donations in Saskatchewan every month to help local patients.

Since 2010, the Bleed Green campaign has brought in more than 7,000 blood donations, enough to help 1,400 patients who needed blood for cancer treatments.

To Bleed Green, fans can attend any Saskatchewan blood donor clinic during the CFL regular season and enter for a chance to be a flag bearer at a home game.

There are also chances to win the grand prize of sideline passes, Pilsner Place box seats, and a full player experience package at the final regular season home game.

The Bleed Green campaign runs until Oct. 30, 2014.
