TORONTO — Actress Shenae Grimes is in damage control mode after she referred to being in “buttf**k Hamilton.”
“I now see I should have chosen my words more carefully,” she told ET Canada in an interview airing Wednesday.
Grimes, who was shooting the Lifetime movie Final Exam in Hamilton — about an hour southwest of Toronto — took some heat Monday after she thanked husband Josh Beech for his patience.
Biggest thanks to the supportive and patient love of my life for putting up with the long hours in buttf*ck Hamilton! Love you my babe x

When local residents started reacting to her description, Grimes tweeted again.
Ouch! Way to misconstrue social media and have a negative perspective. Had an awesome time shooting in the beautiful forests of Hamilton… — Shenae Beech (@shenaegrimes) May 6, 2014

Those tweets prompted responses from several locals.

One person offered to give Grimes, 24, a tour.
The former Degrassi and 90210 star, who was born in Toronto and grew up in the tony Forest Hill neighbourhood of the city, told ET Canada: “I am truly horrified and deeply embarrassed by how negatively my tweet has been interpreted by Hamilton residents and other fellow Canadians.
“My intention was only using the term comically to describe the middle of nowhere as we were deep in the woods most days and my sweet husband was there with me for countless hours while I was working. In no way was I intending for it to be construed as a derogatory description of Hamilton itself, particularly because I had an awesome time there shooting this project!”
In Final Exam, co-starring Keegan Allen (Pretty Little Liars) Grimes plays a young woman who awakens every morning to find she suffered a brain injury and can’t retain the day’s memories.
Of course, not everyone had a problem with her comment about Hamilton.
Shenae Grimes apologizes after referring to Hamilton as “”buttf**k” on Twitter. Tourism Hamilton responds: “She’s not wrong.”
