BC Children’s Hospital daycare centre opens

B.C. Children’s Hospital is now home to a desperately needed daycare centre.

49 children will have a place in the new centre, including 12 babies, 12 toddlers and 25 preschoolers.

The 650 square metre facility will supply child care for hospital staff and people who live in the area.

It has been named after doctor Djavad Mowafaghian, a Vancouver businessman and philanthropist who donated $4 million toward the facility.

Mowafaghian pledged $6 million in 2004 to fund renovations to the hospital’s outpatient clinic.
