VANCOUVER – If you have pollen allergies, brace yourself, the next few weeks could get ugly as we prepare for what could be a particularly bad allergy season.
A lot of allergy patients say they’re already suffering, with the season just starting.
Pollen counts could jump over the next two weeks, fulled by weather conditions. If we get a lot of rain the counts will stay low, but a dry stretch could boost the ‘misery index’.
“You’ve probably noticed a yellow film on your car or on the sidewalk, well that’s the ‘first rites of spring’,” said John Forster-Coull, pharmacist. “That’s some of the pollens that are floating around and being deposited. So certainly patients are requesting relief from symptoms such as itchy eyes, watery eyes, sneezing of course, just scratchy scratchy throat, so it’s quite common right now.”
