LAC BROCHET, Man. – A 10-year-old girl was killed by two dogs in a remote community in northern Manitoba on Tuesday, RCMP say.
The girl was killed at around 6 p.m. Tuesday in Lac Brochet, a fly-in community 1,000 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, Thompson RCMP said.
The girl was rushed to the local nursing station, where she was pronounced dead.
Residents of the community killed two large dogs of unknown breed, police said.
The dogs belonged to a Lac Brochet resident, but the girl did not know them.
Police said the girl’s name will not be released but friends and family have identified her as Raquelle Tssessaze.
An autopsy will be performed in Winnipeg.
Another Manitoba girl, Gracie Herntier-Clark, 7, was killed by dogs on March 17. She was visiting a home in St. Andrews, Man., and was outside in the yard with the dogs, which she knew, when she was killed.
