EDMONTON – An Edmonton man is facing first and second degree murder charges, as well as conspiracy to commit two others.

Edmonton Police and RCMP laid the charges against 31-year-old Joshua Petrin at a Regina corrections facility, where he is awaiting trial in the murder of a Saskatoon woman.

The second degree charges stem from the death of 23-year-old Mitchell Chambers nearly six years ago.

Chambers was shot in December 2008 while sitting in his truck along 188 St. and 47 Ave. He was reportedly waiting to pick up a woman to go to a movie at the time.

Police say Chambers was an innocent victim, alleging the shooting was connected to a former relationship between the woman and Petrin.

He was also charged Friday with first degree murder in connection with the death of 35-year-old Bryan Gower from Lloydminster. Gower’s body was found on a rural road near Lloydminster in Sept. 2012.

One other person is charged with first degree murder in the death; another has already pleaded guilty to second degree murder.

RCMP won’t comment on the motive behind the 2012 murder, or the conspiracy to commit murder charges that are also facing Petrin.

Police say he allegedly has ties to the White Boy Posse Street gang.
