A convicted sex offender known as the ‘swirly face pedophile’ has had his request for bail denied.

Christopher Neil has been charged with ten offences, relating to child abuse and pornography allegations occurring in both B.C. and Cambodia.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

He spent five years in a Thai jail for sexually abusing children and returned to Canada in 2012.

He was placed under strict conditions to protect children here, and last year pleaded guilty to violating one of them.

Some of the new charges are being prosecuted under a so-called “sex tourism law” which allows Canadian authorities to investigate offences occurring by citizens abroad.
