Temperatures soar to 19 in Edmonton, but warmth won’t stay

EDMONTON – Edmonton welcomed very warm weather on Tuesday, with temperatures climbing to 19 degrees Celsius by 4:30 p.m.

Global News Meteorologist Nicola Crosbie says the warmer temperature is caused by the warm sector of the low pressure to the north of Edmonton.

By 3:30 p.m., the temperature in Edmonton had soared to 17 degrees.

An hour later, it was two full degrees higher.

But the nice conditions won’t stick around. A cold front is expected to move into the Edmonton area Tuesday evening, with winds increasing to 20 – 25 km/h, and a 30 per cent chance of showers.

On Wednesday, the high will be 11 degrees Celsius. There will be a 30 per cent chance of morning showers. The wind will be around 30 km/h, with morning clouds and afternoon sunny periods.

On Thursday, the high is expected to be 13 degrees, with a mix of sun and cloud. The wind will be 25 – 30 km/h.

On Friday, the high will be 11 degrees, with a 60 per cent chance of showers.

On Saturday, the high will drop to seven degrees, with a 30 per cent chance of a rain/snow mix in the morning.

The average high for this time of the year in Edmonton is 10 degrees celsius.
