TORONTO – As the polls closed across Quebec at 8 p.m. ET, it took less than half an hour for the province’s largest broadcasters to call the win for the Liberals.
French-language television network TVA, the Quebecor subsidiary whose former president and CEO Pierre Karl Peladeau ran in the riding of St. Jerome, made the prediction at 8:23 p.m. ET.
Ici Radio-Canada, the French arm of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, followed right after with the call of its own.
French-language newspaper La Presse was a little more cautious: they called it for the Liberals about a minute later “if the trend continues.”
