REGINA – Should the University of Regina reduce its student population?

That’s just one question that could be asked, as the institution begins planning for the next five years.

Students, staff and the community are being invited to weigh-in on issues facing the U of R as part of its next strategic plan.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Topics could range from rising tuition costs to the school’s growth in recent years.

“What’s the future for the liberal arts? How are we going to manage with restrictive budgets? How big is the campus going to get?,” U of R president Vianne Timmons said Friday. “All of those will feed into the strategic plan to help guide our decision making.”

Consultation will happen online and on-campus over the next few months.

“We’re going to go (directly) to students, we’re not going to wait for them to come to us,” said Joseph Piwowar, who will chair the strategic planning facilitation team. “Because we know students are busy preparing for exams and writing term papers right now.”

The five-year strategic plan will be released in the fall.
