Police searching for suspect in Castlegar bank robbery

Police are asking for help in locating a suspect after a bank robbery in Castlegar yesterday.

A man entered the Kootenay Savings Credit Union located on 4th street in Castlegar and took out his gun. He managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, according to police.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Castlegar RCMP responded to a bank robbery alarm but the suspect had fled on foot prior to their arrival.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian, 5’6″, slim build, wearing black cargo pants, a dark faded black hoodie and possibly wearing a ball cap under the hoodie. His face was covered.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers or the Castlegar RCMP detachment at (250) 365-7721.
