REGINA – The province is going to be issuing cheques to some customers who were incorrectly charged on their credit cards when they tried to book a camping site at a Saskatchewan provincial park.
Due to a technical error on the website, 950 customers were incorrectly charged on their credit cards and the province will be sending them a $100 cheque in the mail to say sorry.
“We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Kevin Doherty said. “We are doing everything we can to correct this issue. Our provincial park visitors are important to us, and we recognize that these incorrect charges have been an inconvenience to our customers. In addition to refunding the charges, we will be mailing cheques for $100 to those credit card holders who were over charged.”
Camis, the private company that runs the website, has been receiving calls from some of the customers but they are also actively trying to find the remainder of the customers who were overcharged.
The province is asking anyone who made a reservation at a Saskatchewan park last week to check their credit card statements to make sure their booking matches their credit card. If a discrepancy is found, customers should call the reservation call centre at 1-855-737-7275 and press 2.
