EDMONTON – A man was airlifted to hospital after the pickup truck he was driving hit the flat deck of a semi west of Edmonton.

“We do know that the red Nissan pickup truck behind us was travelling west bound and the semi truck was travelling east bound. They were meeting one another and somehow the pickup ended up going in the rear deck,” said Cpl. Colette Zazulak, Stony Plain RCMP.

The pickup truck was dragged for about 100 feet before the semi stopped.

“It was carried for awhile because the semi driver didn’t realize that there was a truck embedded in the back of his trailer,” explained Zazulak.

The driver of the pickup was unconscious when he was airlifted to hospital. Police were not certain of his condition shortly after the crash.
