Late winter blast wreaks havoc on roads

WINNIPEG -Just as the deep freeze ends, Winnipeggers were hit with another late winter wallop.

Snow and heavy winds Wednesday afternoon led to several crashes around the city, one transit bus even took out a light fixture on Main street.

“It’s crazy, it’s just too long,” said one resident. “Four months of snow and -40, it’s just too much.”

Over a dozen snow squall warnings were issued for rural municipalities surrounding Winnipeg.

RCMP issued visibility warnings for Highway 1 and others also adding there would be delays in response times if there was an emergency.

A Global Winnipeg news crew narrowly missed a vehicle that had spun out in front of them while driving on the East perimeter.

The latest winter blast has many yearning for warmer days.

“It’s time to move leave the province,” said one Winnipeg resident.

The worst part: this might not be the end of it. Forecasts are calling for up to 4cm of snow Thursday.
