Calgary couple found dead in Bonavista home now a double homicide

CALGARY – Police have confirmed a couple found dead in their Lake Bonavista home over the weekend were murdered.

Police found the bodies of 59-year-old Don Carlson and 56-year-old Roxanne Carlson around 1 p.m. on Saturday, after receiving a call from the couple’s son about a potential carbon monoxide leak at their house.

Police say the couple lived with one of their three adult children, and their son had arrived at the home to visit his parents.

During their investigation, police ruled out CO as a cause of death and called in the Homicide Unit.

“We had the Calgary Fire Department go through the house to determine what role carbon monoxide played [in the deaths],” says S/Sgt. Grant Miller. “They were able to determine that there were no issues with carbon monoxide inside the home at all.”
