TORONTO – Part of Dufferin Street has reopened after a fire hydrant exploded and spewing water everywhere Friday morning.
Fire crews were called to Westmount avenue just after 1 a.m. off Dufferin Street near St. Clair.
Local residents had rushed out to the scene and were trying to use shovels to keep water from rushing towards their foundations.
Dufferin Street had to be closed near Rogers Road for several hours because of the water pooling around parked cars.
It took City of Toronto crews almost an hour to reach the scene and finally cap the leak.
