WATCH: Florida woman steals news reporter’s car

TORONTO – A Florida news reporter assigned to cover an alleged rental property scam quickly became the centre of a possibly bigger story after his car was stolen — and it was all captured on camera.

WWSB ABC 7’s reporter Josh Taylor was investigating after a Venice-area woman claimed she rented an 11-bedroom home for an upcoming family reunion.

Turns out the house only had five bedrooms.

According to ABC 7, the 91-year-old woman asked for her money back but the property owner refused.

On Friday, Taylor went to the property and set up his camera on the road just outside of the rental unit, where he was confronted by a woman who police identified as Jean Price.

In the video, Taylor can be heard telling Price he was there to do a story about the property.

“You’re going to leave,” Price yelled. “You’re not going to do a story on this property.”

When Taylor refused to leave, Price picked up the reporter’s camera equipment, placed it in the car, got in the vehicle and drove away, leaving Taylor on the side of the road.

Price faces grand theft auto charges.
