EDMONTON – An official ceremony on Wednesday welcomed Assistant Commissioner Marianne Ryan as the new Commanding Officer of the RCMP K Division in Alberta.

Her appointment was announced in November, following Deputy Commissioner Dale McGowan’s retirement.

“I can’t think of a greater privilege than to lead such a dedicated team of employees who are truly committed to public safety in this dynamic and progressive province,” said A/Commr. Ryan. “I’m humbled by this opportunity, and I look forward to this next chapter in Alberta’s rich history with the RCMP.”

According to officials, Ryan is the first woman to hold the position.
