SASKATOON – The U of S School of Public Health (SPH) is the first non-European school of its kind to receive accreditation from the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA).

The University of Saskatchewan school is one of only two accredited programs in Canada.

Accreditation was granted for SPH’s Master of Public Health (MPH) until the end of 2018.

The two-year MPH program trains professionals to measure, assess and manage the ever-increasing complexity of population and public health issues.

“Accreditation for our program means we have met an international standard of excellence and competencies in the five arenas of public health: epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health policy and health management,” said Robert Buckingham, SPH director.

Holding this accreditation status means the school will be able to recruit more international students and faculty.
