WINNIPEG – The storm that swept into Manitoba on Wednesday brought record high temperatures as well as damaging winds and freezing rain, followed by a cold front.
Winds reached up to 104 kilometres per hour in Portage la Prairie while new record highs were set in Winnipeg, Carman, Flin Flon, Grand Rapids, Fisher Branch, Gimli, Gretna, Melita, Pilot Mound, Swan River and The Pas, Environment Canada said.

Winnipeg set a record high of 3.3 C and winds in the city reached a maximum of 82 kilometres per hour, while an estimated three to five centimetres of snow fell.
Amid the warmer temperatures, freezing rain fell along the Saskatchewan border in Roblin, Russell and Virden, with rain falling in Flin Flon for an hour.
As the system swept through, it was followed by a cold front that brought rapidly falling temperatures.
