TORONTO – Police in Mexico City arrested a man suspected of drunk driving after his pet parrot told officers his owner was intoxicated.

According to the Spanish-language newspaper El Universa, 49-year-old Guillermo Reyes was driving by an alcohol checkpoint. When an officer pulled him over, a voice inside the car said, “He’s drunk! He’s drunk!”

The paper reported that authorities believed the voice was coming from another person only to discover the talking parrot. Reyes reportedly failed a breathalyzer test and was arrested.
