CALGARY- The city is set to be plunged back into a deep freeze, after a brief reprieve from Old Man Winter.

The forecast is calling for snow to start falling early Friday morning, with five to 10 centimeters expected by 9 a.m.

The rest of the day will be cloudy, with flurries redeveloping in the evening and another couple of centimeters of snow expected.

While it will only be about -2 on Friday, the weekend will see freezing temperatures with Saturday expected to only hit -13, while Sunday will see a high of -19.

A snowfall warning was also issued for Banff National Park by Environment Canada, where 30 to 40 centimetres of snow could fall by Saturday morning. That’s also prompted an avalanche warning.
