Map: Calls to Toronto firefighters during the ice storm

Saturday was a busy night for Toronto Fire Services and Hydro One as over 160 calls came in overnight, according to data from the City of Toronto.

A large ice storm left approximately 350,000 hydro customers without power in Ontario, including close to 250,000 in Toronto.

The map below shows where calls to Toronto Fire Services were placed and what they concerned; the green markers represent calls about downed wires while the red markers represent “other” calls (though many of those too were weather-related).

The information below was collected from the Toronto Fire Services feed and represents calls from approximately 3:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

The majority of calls were for downed power lines with many clustering around the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area.

But the calls were placed from across the city as far west as Etobicoke (Thames Avenue) and as far east as Kingston Road, near the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus.
