Alberta cattle thief sentenced, but bovines still missing

EDMONTON – A cattle thief has had his day in court, been fined and given probation.

But the bovines have yet to be found.

Mounties say they need the public’s help to find the more than 600 head of cattle.

Timothy William Flad, who is 47, was convicted in September of selling cattle that were financed without notifying the lender that he had disposed of the assets.

Flad, of Brownsville, Alta., was sentenced to one year probation and 100 hours of community service.

He was also ordered to pay back $12,000 to the lender for the 40 head he sold illegally.

Edmonton, AB – The RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating in excess of 600 head of cattle related to an ongoing criminal investigation into thefts and fraud committed by Timothy William FLAD, age 47, of Brownsville, Alberta.

On the 5th of September 2013, FLAD was convicted of Cattle Theft over $5,000.  in St. Paul Court of Queen’s Bench. His conviction was the result of a joint investigation by Provost RCMP Detachment, “K” Division Livestock Section, the Livestock Identification Services Inspectors in Alberta, the Saskatchewan Agriculture Livestock Inspectors and the RCMP Detachment in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan.

FLAD sold cattle that were financed without notifying the lender that he had disposed of the assets. He was sentenced to 1 year probation and 100 hours of community service. A Restitution Order was given requiring him to pay back $12,000.00 to the lender for the 40 head that he had sold illegally.
