First came the blizzard; now comes the bitter cold and a windchill warning.
Temperatures in Lethbridge have plummeted to -45 with the windchill.
According to Dave Phillips of Environment Canada, that’s the coldest it’s been in Lethbridge since 1950.
It also ties Lethbridge with Yellowknife as the coldest city in the country.
“This will go down as one of the toughest weather weeks in Lethbridge history,” says Phillips.
“It’s been a really tough week – a triple whammy with the snow, wind and cold.”
People in the Cardston-Fort MacLeod area are also dealing with bitter cold, and it’s just a tad less freezing in the Crowsnest Pass-Pincher Creek area where temperatures Thursday are expected to reach a less-than-balmy -20 and – 3o with the windchill.
There is a glimmer of hope- the weather should warm up a little next week.
