While sparring with Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre Tuesday in question period and after Statistics Canada reported the inflation rate rose to four per cent in August, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed his government has brought the inflation rate down “from the highs of 8.1 per cent” while also helping Canadians through affordable child care and dental care. Poilievre responded by saying that inflation is now accelerating under his leadership.
