Merritt city councillor killed in apparent hit and run

A Merritt city councillor has been identified as the victim of an apparent hit-and-run on Highway 16 near the B.C. Alberta border. In an online statement, the City of Merritt says Claire Newman was travelling to see family when she was struck and killed.
