Experts warned Titan submersible didn’t follow industry safety standards

In 2018, the Marine Technology Society (MTS) wrote a letter to OceanGate Expeditions CEO Stockton Rush, warning the construction of the Titan submersible was “experimental,” and could result in “minor to catastrophic” outcomes. Global National’s Dawna Friesen speaks with a signatory of that letter, chair of the MTS Manned Underwater Vehicles Commitee Will Khonen, on his reaction to the grim outcome of the search for the vessel, and his thoughts about future expeditions to the Titanic’s wreckage.
