‘Ministerial responsibility is gone’: Accountability problems plague Liberals
Description
June 18, 2023
With the end of the parliamentary session fast approaching, the Liberals are on the defensive after a number of political missteps. Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino is facing yet another allegation of fumbling his file after public outrage that serial rapist and murderer Paul Bernardo was transferred out of a maximum security prison. And the government is still dealing with fallout from its response to foreign interference. ‘The West Block’ host Mercedes Stephenson sat down with The Globe and Mail Ottawa bureau chief Bob Fife and Stephanie Levitz from The Toronto Star to discuss whether the Liberals can regain Canadians’ trust or if these debacles are starting to stick to the government.
